Type Rating Instructor

The Initial Type Rating Instructor (TRI) course provides the necessary skills to deliver a type rating training on the corresponding type of aircraft.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PRIVILEGES

The privileges of the holder of a TRI (H) are to instruct license holders with the objective of revalidation or type rating renewal. When applicable, this course includes extension of the IR (H) privileges, and as TRI (MPH) the required instruction for Multi Crew Coordination as applicable.

PREQUESITES

APPLICANTS MUST

  • Hold a valid and corresponding crew member license, acquired or recognized by the PART FLC
  • Have completed at least 15 flight hours on the corresponding type of helicopter with no more than 7 hours completed on a flight simulator
  • Meet requirements as defined by the PART FCL


  • It is recommended to have a strong experience on the variant as Pilot in Command.

    (Note: Additional prerequisites could be required according to aircraft type)

    COURSE CONTENT

    (Theoretical course duration: Single-Pilot= 7 days / Multi-pilot = 8 days)

    CERTIFICATE

    After successful course completion, the trainee will be awarded an certificate of approved training for Type Rating Instructor.

    Extension of Privileges

    The Extension of Privileges course extends privileges of a pilot instructor to a new aircraft type.

    PREQUESITES

    APPLICANTS MUST

  • Hold an up-to-date TRI or Flight Instructor (FI) qualification
  • Hold an up-to-date type rating on the variant
  • Have at least 15 flight hours experience on the relevant helicopter with no more than 7 Hours completed on a flight simulator.


  • It is recommended to have a strong experience on the variant as Pilot in Command.

    (Note: Additional prerequisites can be required according to aircraft type)

    COURSE CONTENT

    THEORETICAL INSTRUCTION

  • Training manual (Review of helicopter systems)
  • Flight manual (normal and emergency procedures)
  • PRACTICAL INSTRUCTION: Simulator OR/AND Flight instructions

  • Familiarization with flight procedures from the left seat
  • Traffic pattern
  • Normal and emergency procedures
  • Simulation of typical trainee mistakes and corresponding adjustments to be applied.
  • CERTIFICATE

    After successful course completion, the trainee will be awarded a flight report of the new version.

    Examiner Seminar Courses

    TRE / SE / FSE

    The Examiner Seminar Courses (TRE, SE, FSE) allow the revalidation and/or the renewal of the examiner qualification according to PART FCL 1025.

    PREQUESITES

    APPLICANTS MUST

  • For revalidation: Hold a valid helicopter examiner authorization
  • For Renewal: Hold a helicopter examiner authorization which is out of date for less than 3 months

  • The role of the senior examiner
  • Applications and report form
  • Threat and Errors Management (TEM)

  • CERTIFICATE

    After successful course completion, the trainee will be awarded a PART FCL certificate of approved training for the type rating.

    Type Rating Renewal

    The Type Rating Renewal Course updates knowledge and proficiency to renew the type rating on the aircraft type.
    The revalidation or Renewal Test extends the type rating according to PART FCL regulations.

    PREQUESITES

    APPLICANTS MUST

  • Hold an up-to-date type rating on the variant
    ● Expiration of type rating < 3 months: Revalidation test
    ● Between 3 months and 5 years: Type rating renewal course and revalidation test
  • Hold a valid medical certificate


  • (Note: Additional prerequisites could be required upon aircraft type)

  • RENEWAL/ REVALIDATION TEST

    Type rating skills test in accordance with PART FCL regulation. The applicant should demonstrate the required skills for the safe operation of the corresponding type of helicopter.

    CERTIFICATE

    After successful course completion, the trainee will be awarded a PART FCL flight test form.
