Online Self-Assessment

At Airbus Helicopters Training Services, our chief priority is to provide an extensive range of courses with the highest quality and safety standards tailored to our customers’ needs.

For all maintenance and pilot courses, customers will benefit from an online self-assessment free of charge on our Learner Portal to ensure the training will perfectly meet our customers’ requirements.

This Self-Assessment is not mandatory.

Pre-Entry Level English

Self-Assessment for Technicians

The English level of all our technician training courses is equivalent to
  • Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) score 605-780 or equivalent
  • Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) score 44-59 or equivalent.


  • Learners shall be able to read, write and communicate in English using the appropriate technical vocabulary as written in the helicopter maintenance documentation.

    Our customers can benefit from a free online self-assessment in order to make sure that the language requirements are met by all learners.

    Pre-Entry Level English

    Training Course

    An intensive course to prepare for a maintenance training in English.

    This course is strongly recommended for a score between 30-45% on our English Self-Assessment. Below that, we advise you to book an interpreter.

    Self-Assessment for Technicians

    This Self-Assessment has been designed for Avionics Technicians in order to evaluate learners’ general knowledge and specific needs prior to the avionics type qualification course.

    Pre-Entry Level Standard Practices

    Self-Assessment for Technicians

    Mechanics and Avionics Technicians

    The following prerequisites are applied for technician Type Rating courses:
  • Have a basic knowledge of B1-3 category for airframe and B2 category for avionics courses
  • OR
  • Hold an academic degree in aircraft maintenance
  • OR
  • Hold the certification (release to service) privilege of the “grand-father law’’
  • AND
  • Hold recorded practical maintenance background on similar helicopter
  • AND
  • Hold technical knowledge on “mechanic and airframe” or avionics systems including at least 6 months experience within the prior 24 months


  • A short Self-Assessment on Standard Practices is available on our Learner Portal free of charge.

    Training Course

    An introductory course to review general maintenance procedures and best practices for maintenance tools.

    This course is strongly recommended for a score below 50% on our Standard Practices Self-Assessment.

  • International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) - level 4 (Operational Level)
  • OR
  • International English Testing System (IELTS) - level 5

  • Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) - score of 605-780.


  • Our customers can benefit from a free online self-assessment on the Learner Portal in order to make sure that the language requirements are met by all learners.
